Our Mission continues to evolve

Malayalees for Social Justice is committed to dismantling the systems of oppression that work to discriminate, disenfranchise, and marginalize communities of color in the United States and globally. We seek to address the oppression also within our own Malayalee diaspora. We are committed to disrupting hate and dismantling the systems of white supremacy, caste supremacy, and patriarchal capitalist structures by cultivating an inclusive, equitable, and antiracist society.

As a South Indian diasporic community in the United States, we acknowledge the privileges and benefits we have inherited from the centuries of struggle and fight for racial and social equity by Black, Indigenous, and Latine communities. As direct beneficiaries of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, we have a responsibility to build a justice oriented community that is committed to combating individual, interpersonal, and systemic oppression. We aim to serve as leaders and co-conspirators in the work of our collective liberation by modeling intersectional and inclusive practices.

Malayalees for Social Justice is a volunteer led organization that works to:

1. ADVOCATE for the health, wealth, and safety of oppressed and disenfranchised populations
2. UPLIFT and amplify marginalized voices
3. EDUCATE our own community by equipping them with knowledge and skills that can empower them to cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and antiracist immigrant community

Our vision is to build a Malayalee community that stands against hatred and works to dismantle the oppressive systems of racism, casteism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ableism and other forms of oppression.

Our 3 Pillars

Uplift

As Malayalee Americans we are direct beneficiaries of the legacy of freedom created by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC). We commit to harnessing our unique economic, educational, and social privileges to amplify marginalized voices and create access to resources and opportunity to underserved communities.

Educate

We believe that education is foundational to becoming an effective change agent. We aim to equip ourselves with the tools necessary to actively support, uplift and advocate for marginalized groups. We commit to creating educational opportunities that will stimulate the learning and growth required to develop ourselves into a social justice oriented community.
